Daedalians

Our Identity

Established in 1934 by a group of 35 WWI pilots, the Order of Daedalians is America’s premier military aviation fraternity. Through our fellowship, they sought to honor and perpetuate their legacy of patriotism and self-sacrifice as the first Americans to fly in time of war. In recognition of this heritage, we are named for Daedalus, the first man in legend to achieve heavier-than-air flight. Since 1959, our members have committed to continue a proud tradition of airpower excellence by inspiring future generations of military aviators through the Daedalian Foundation. 

Our Mission

Our mission through the Order of Daedalians is to advocate for air and space power and honor those who flew and fly in defense of our nation. The Daedalian Foundation’s mission is to inspire and empower young Americans to pursue careers in military aviation. We proudly continue to carry on our tradition of airpower excellence in those who fly today and pass the wings forward to the next generation aspiring to take flight. 

Our Work

Each year, our core programs include awards, scholarships, flight training, preservation and publications.
