From Chaos to Purpose: Ashley’s Story

I am a person with lived experience who now has the opportunity to give back to the community that once helped me rebuild my own life.

In 2018, I entered Deborah’s House seeking the safety, stability, and support I needed to begin again. At that time, I could not have imagined that my journey would eventually lead me back to Corazon—not as someone searching for a way forward, but as someone helping other women find theirs.

Today, my lived experience has become part of my purpose. I have the opportunity to help expand recovery housing and supportive services for women throughout San Antonio and Bexar County. I understand the courage it takes to leave behind a life of chaos, ask for help, and begin rebuilding one step at a time. I also understand how life-changing it can be when someone believes in you before you are ready to believe in yourself.

Corazon offers more than services. It offers a safe place to be seen, supported, and reminded that the past does not have to determine the future. My story is proof that recovery housing can do more than provide a place to live—it can help a woman discover her strength, rebuild her life, and find a purpose greater than she ever imagined.

From a life of chaos to a life of purpose, I now walk beside other women as they begin their own journeys home.
