This year, Close to Home is raising funds to support four critical areas that help prevent and end homelessness in San Antonio and Bexar County: Billy Bundles and LEAB & YAB Support

Billy Bundles

Billy Bundles help us provide immediate support when we encounter someone experiencing homelessness. Each bundle contains essential items such as water, snacks, hygiene products, and information about local resources and services.

Named in honor of Billy Mahone III, a beloved advocate and Close to Home team member who passed away in July 2023, these bundles continue his legacy of compassion and service. A small donation can make a meaningful difference by offering comfort, dignity, and connection to critical resources.

LEAB Support

The Lived Experience Advisory Boards (LEAB & YAB) are made up of individuals who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced homelessness or housing instability. Their firsthand perspectives help shape policies, programs, and decisions across our homeless response system.

Your donation supports meaningful participation by helping cover meeting meals, transportation assistance, stipends, continuing education opportunities, professional development, scholarships, conference attendance, and other resources that empower LEAB members to grow as leaders and advocates. By intentionally inviting people with lived experience to the table where decisions are made, we ensure our community's response remains fair, informed, and effective. We live by the mantra: "Nothing about us, without us."

Donation Levels

$25 = Provides two Billy Bundles to be distributed to two unhoused neighbors. 

$50 = Supports our Lived Experience Boards (LEAB & YAB) with professional development, scholarships, and more.

$100 = Could provide meals, transportation for Pathways to Progress, professional development, or more for our Lived Experience boards.

$250 = Could support attendance at a conference for Lived Experience members for professional development

$500 = May provide up to 100 Billy Bundles to be distributed to our unhoused neighbors.

Who We Are

Close to Home is the lead Continuum of Care (CoC) agency for San Antonio and Bexar County. As the CoC, Close to Home secures and distributes funding for direct service providers in the housing and homeless community and provides guidance to strengthen policies and programs. We are responsible for collaborating with, listening to, and collecting data from the housing and homeless community to ensure everyone has a place to call home.
