Fuel the Journey

For most of us, transportation is something we rarely think about. We get in the car and go to work, school, the grocery store, a doctor’s appointment, or dinner with friends.

For a young person leaving foster care, getting from one place to another can determine whether those opportunities are possible at all.

A job offer means little if you cannot get to work. College becomes harder when transportation is unreliable. Even everyday responsibilities like grocery shopping, medical appointments, and maintaining relationships can become major obstacles.

MileMarkers exists to change that.

Through our FirstGear program, we help foster youth build the transportation skills and resources they need to move toward independence. That includes driver education, licensing support, access to reliable vehicles, insurance assistance, registration and title expenses, fuel support, basic vehicle maintenance education, and practical guidance for the road ahead.

But our work is about more than cars.

It is about choice.

The choice to accept a job across town.
The choice to enroll in school.
The choice to get home safely after a late shift.
The choice to visit family and friends.
The choice to decide what comes next.

Our $92,000 Goal

This year, our goal is to raise $92,000 to fund a full year of MileMarkers programming and the support needed to make that work possible.

Your gift helps fund direct services for foster youth as well as the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps those services responsible, organized, and sustainable.
