For a homeless or disabled veteran dealing with physical injury, chronic pain, or severe PTSD, navigating the city without reliable transit isn't just an inconvenience. It’s an impossible barrier. Missing an appointment at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital can mean waiting months for another opening. Missing an intake appointment at a housing agency can mean losing a safe roof over your head. Missing a court date or document retrieval hearing can set a veteran back years.

Every single week, this van is on the move across San Antonio:

•    Transporting disabled veterans directly to vital VA medical appointments, therapy sessions, and clinics.

•    Driving homeless veterans to secure permanent supportive housing intakes and temporary motel stays.

•    Getting veterans to the state office to replace stolen or lost birth certificates, military discharge papers, and official IDs.

•    Delivering fresh food kits, warm clothing, and emergency supplies directly to encampments and street corners.

What truly sets Broken Warriors Angels apart from other organizations is our hands-on commitment. We don't just hand someone a bus pass, point toward the street, and hope for the best. We pick our veterans up, stay by their side, assist them through the process, and follow up consistently to ensure they are never left behind.

Keeping a vehicle on the road every day takes resources. With high mileage, unpredictable road conditions, and constant use, our van requires routine upkeep, reliable commercial insurance coverage, and a safety net for unexpected mechanical emergencies.

We are raising $6,000 during the Big Give to fund our transport program:

•    $3,700 — 1 Year of Van Insurance: Ensuring our drivers and veteran passengers are fully covered, safe, and legal on the road at all times.

•    $2,300 — Essential Scheduled Maintenance: Oil changes, brake replacements, safe tires, fluid checks, and regular inspections to prevent breakdowns.
