I chose to serve as the Board President for EarthShare Texas because I believe in the power of its model: allowing environmentalists, and people who care about this planet to make a single donation and have those funds benefit a number of organizations.

At a time when protecting our environment isn't always a priority at the state or federal level, I believe the nonprofit sector has an especially important role to play in protecting our planet and our communities. EarthShare Texas helps me support several of these organizations at once.

That work is important right here in San Antonio and South Central Texas. This October, EarthShare Texas will participate in San Antonio's Environmental Volunteer Expo, helping connect people who care about the environment with opportunities to give back to their community and do what they can to protect it.

That's what I hope to accomplish through The Big Give, too: give more people an opportunity to get involved.
