The best way I can sum up the beauty of Healy-Murphy Center is with a student testimony:
"So many people at Healy Murphy have made an impact on me. Mrs. Banda, the therapist here, helped me more than I can explain. Talking to her every week gave me something to look forward to, especially during the harder times. Before I made friends, it was people like Ms. Menchaca, Ms. Cowan, and Ms. Navarro that made me feel seen and supported. Ms. Garza helped me pass math—she sat with me every day until I got it. She’s also the one who introduced me to the cybersecurity course, which opened up a whole new path for me. And Ms. Rangel? She was everywhere, teaching, coaching, doing CrossFit, running film class, being a mom and going to college herself. She showed me what it means to handle life and still show up for people. The staff here are some of the best mentors I’ve ever had, and I want them to know I see what they do for us. I’m thankful for every single one of them."
Her story reflects the broader impact of trauma-informed care and access to mental health services: students reclaiming agency, building resilience, and stepping into leadership. Without grant funding, these supports, and these outcomes, would not be possible.
