When Lita first came to the Healy Murphy Child Development Center, she was only six months old. She had recently lost her mother, and at such a young age, she was already facing a loss that no child should ever have to experience.
The teachers at Healy Murphy knew that Lita needed more than a safe place to spend her day. She needed love. She needed comfort. She needed someone to nurture her, hold her, brush her hair, make her smile, and help her feel safe while her father was at work.
And that is exactly what they gave her.
Today Lita is almost three years old - and look at her now!
She knows her colors and ABC's. She is curious, happy learning, and growing every day.
And perhaps on of the most meaningful things she says is that she loves "her school."
Because of caring teachers, a supportive community, and people who believe in children like Lita, she is not defined by the loss she experienced. She is growing into a happy, confident little girl with a bright future ahead of her.
This is the difference Healy Murphy makes-one child, one family, and one life at a time.
