Vibrant Works

A nonprofit organization

Vibrant Works is thrilled to participate in The Big Give with the goal of raising $15,000 to send children with vision loss to Camp Aranzazu!

This inclusive camp experience is more than just a camp - it's a chance for kids with vision loss to build confidence, connect with peers, and embrace new adventures. Your generosity supports our mission to empower people with vision loss and helps make a lasting impact in these children's lives.

We took a group of students last year and it was so amazing to see the students grow in their confidence, in their independence, and in the way they built community with each other. We’re excited to be able to bring a bigger group again this year, with your support.” – Beverly Broom, Senior Manager of Independent Living at Vibrant Works

"My cabin buddies are amazing. Also, if it wasn't for the amazing staff I would still be afraid to swim so thank you so much." - Vibrant Adventures Camper

"The zipline made me feel like I was flying and I love to perform for Aranza-Studio. [After Camp Aranzazu] I'll be more confident." - Vibrant Adventures Camper

"It is difficult to choose what I enjoyed most about this camp, as there was never a dull moment. Everyone in this camp was very encouraging of each other and would step in immediately when asked. They excelled at creating a community together." - Camp Aranzazu Counselor

Who We Are

Since 1933 the San Antonio Lighthouse the Blind & Vision Impaired has been the community icon for training, educating and employing the blind and vision impaired, in addition to being a leader in manufacturing and sales in support of the military with U.S. made products.

The mission - Empowering the lives of the blind and vision impaired. A one-stop-shop for people who are blind/vision impaired from birth on upwards. The Lighthouse accomplishes their mission through employment in our manufacturing plant and military stores and our rehabilitation programs. These opportunities allow people to live productive lives with dignity ….turning dis-ABILITY into ABILITY.

Today the Lighthouse has over 450 employees, 250 are blind/low vision, and support the military effort by manufacturing uniforms writing utensils, floorboards for Tinker AFB KC135 cargo planes and many other products. Over the years their programs/services have grown exponentially and last year provided over 10,000 services to the blind and low vision of San Antonio. Some of the new programs include a partnership with University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry and the Blind Children’s Education Program – teaching these children assistive technology, Braille, mobility training and everyday life skills as well as a support group for their families.

While the products and manufacturing jobs may have changed over time, the Lighthouse focus on providing independence for people who are blind has remained steadfast.
