Mission

We are Texas lawyers and advocates for Texas communities, boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in and out of the courts.

Our Work

At the Texas Civil Rights Project, we’re fighting for a Texas where every community can thrive with dignity, justice, and without fear.

Rooted in community, TCRP uses the law and advocacy to advance and protect the civil rights of all Texans, particularly our state’s most vulnerable populations. We build momentum for systems change in Texas through thoughtful, dynamic interventions to recenter power in communities, like San Antonio. With input from impacted individuals, community advocates, and organizational partners, TCRP supports movement with:

  • Impact litigation on behalf of communities, whether class action lawsuits or individual claims with broader significance

  • Policy advocacy that reduces or eliminates systemic harm

  • Community mobilizing that builds grassroots power and civic engagement

  • Narrative change that shifts public understanding and builds momentum

Our attorneys and advocates work in three core areas:

  • Voting Rights – protecting the freedom to vote and fair representation

  • Beyond Borders – fighting for the dignity and safety of migrants and border communities

  • Criminal Legal – reducing the harms of over-policing and mass incarceration

Did You Know?

TCRP stands in solidarity with San Antonio and communities across Texas:

  • Belonging & Safety: Families in San Antonio are the heartbeat of our state. TCRP challenges harmful policies and defends immigrant rights to keep loved ones safe and together.

  • Community Power: Strong voices build strong communities. TCRP ensures fair access to the ballot box, allowing every eligible San Antonian to shape the future.

  • Resilience & Justice: San Antonio’s fight for justice is part of a statewide movement. TCRP confronts abusive jail conditions and harmful laws to ensure every Texan can live with dignity.

For more than 30 years, TCRP has stood with communities that others often overlook. But this work is resource-intensive, and the need is growing. With your support this San Antonio Big Give, we can keep showing up where we’re needed most.

Your Impact!

With a gift today, you are responding to critical and unanticipated challenges, such as defending against discriminatory redistricting efforts both locally and statewide, where lawmakers are trying to choose their voters instead of the other way around. Your contribution will go directly toward advancing our mission of boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in Texas.

With the current presidential administration and the recent Texas legislative sessions, 2025 has brought a pivotal moment that calls for bold, decisive action to protect civil rights across Texas. We must all identify our role and stand together with strength and determination.

With your partnership, you sustain this critical programming and build the capacity needed to meet the moment by:

  • Advancing justice through intersectional advocacy: We will tackle core issues, including voting rights, immigrant rights, and criminal justice reform, by addressing how systemic injustices overlap across race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, disability, and economic inequality, ensuring our work lifts up those most impacted.

  • Deepening community partnerships and expanding impact: Through collaboration with grassroots leaders and organizations, we will amplify community voices, pursue bold litigation and policy reforms, and drive systemic change that fosters equity and dignity for all Texans.

  • Strengthening TCRP for the future: By investing in a talented team, prioritizing financial sustainability, and leveraging innovative tools, we will build a resilient and inclusive organization capable of leading transformational change this year and in the future.

Donate to TCRP and make a powerful statement: JUSTICE IN SAN ANTONIO IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. EVERY COMMUNITY DESERVES TO THRIVE.
