Founded in the midst of World War II with just 42 students, St. Mary Magdalen School (SMMS) has served as a beacon of Catholic education in San Antonio for over 80 years. Today, we remain deeply committed to nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—while empowering our students and community to live the Gospel and grow in excellence through faith, academics, and service.

Whether you are an alum, parent, grandparent, or friend, you've likely experienced the profound impact of SMMS. In a time when many Catholic schools face decline, SMMS continues to grow, now serving over 460 students and leading innovation within the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

However, we can’t do it alone. Like many Catholic schools nationwide, SMMS operates at a deficit. Over 90% of our students receive tuition assistance, and we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap in operating costs.

Our Vision
St. Mary Magdalen is a Catholic, co-educational school of empowerment. Students engage in a dynamic academic experience preparing them for college and heaven. SMMS cultivates a growth mindset, bilingualism, multiculturalism and strong character inspired by the gospel and Catholic Social Teaching. SMMS offers opportunities to grow in excellence through diverse extracurricular programs, including Athletics, Clubs, and the SuccessMaker Academic Excellence Program. SMMS prepares and supports Pre-K3 through 8th grade students to excel in high school and college through the Graduate Support Program.
