Inspired by the legendary 1992 USA Olympic Basketball Team, the RMYA Dream Team celebrates the power of people coming together to help children and young people overcome adversity and dream about what’s possible.

For 50 years, Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) has helped children and young people facing crisis, trauma, and adversity build brighter futures. RMYA provides residential care and treatment for children and youth who have been removed from their families and homes and need safety and stability, transitional living services for young adults preparing for independence, and no-cost counseling and support to children and families in our community who are dealing with trauma. 

Our programs give young people the support they need to heal, build confidence, discover their strengths, and prepare for brighter futures.

Basketball has always been part of RMYA’s story. Roy Maas, RMYA's visionary founding executive director, was a gifted athlete and fiercely competitive. His longtime friend and famed San Antonio Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich, once said, “Roy Maas was the most competitive person I’ve ever met.” 

That spirit of determination has been part of RMYA from the beginning—believing in young people, standing beside them through difficult times, and never giving up on their potential.

Fifty years later, that spirit of teamwork is still at the heart of RMYA. Our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners come together every day to help young people who need someone in their corner.

That’s the RMYA Dream Team.
