In 2025, Magdalena House resident mothers completed 106 college credit hours, and 100% of school-aged children advanced to the next grade - proof that educational support creates real possibility for families working toward stability.

Our Mission

Magdalena House is a community of transitional homes in San Antonio serving mothers and their children who have fled dangerous and traumatic situations. We provide transformation through safe shelter, nurturing relationships, holistic wellness programming, and educational development.

Who We Are

Our Program

Women and their children receive wraparound services and 24/7 support in a home-like environment, full of hope and accountability. Utilizing a dual-generation approach, we provide safe homes in an expansive natural environment, basic needs and educational programming, nurturing community and therapeutic services.

Mothers attend accredited academic programs year-round, including college, high school, GED or ESOL. They participate in peer enrichment groups covering a variety of wellness topics and parenting classes. Families stay with us for multiple years until they have completed their educational goals. They are provided case management, connected to community resources, and assisted with legal services. Special community gatherings and events for families model and cultivate positive, supportive relationships.

Threaded throughout our programs and community life are holistic therapeutic services designed to foster self-awareness and emotional healing. Both mother and child develop social, emotional, educational, and financial skills needed to ensure their physical, economic, and spiritual well-being when they leave Magdalena House.

Our Neighborhood
We have built a gated neighborhood on our 5-acre property for our mothers and their children with 3 homes, a Family Wellness Center, playground, and community garden. Our plans are to build 3 more homes to support 24 families at a time.
