Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas

Our Need

This year for Big Give, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWT) is raising funds to supply Girl Scouts with updated equipment for the Westside Girl Scout Leadership Center STEM lab. 

STEM is of a great focus for participants in Girl Genius tutoring program. The Girl Genius program affords girls the opportunity to combine STEM learning with leadership development, growth mindset development, and other socially desirable skills in a flexible, informal environment that supports girl-driven exploration and experimentation through STEM activities. The Girl Genius program takes place after school Monday-Thursday from September to May, coinciding with the school year.

Your gifts make a difference in the lives of girls who are learning to be leaders. Our goal is to raise $5,000, which will go a long way to provide updated equipment for the Westside Girl Scout Leadership Center STEM lab! Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas serves girls across a 21-county service area including: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Maverick, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala. 

Supported by adult volunteers and mentors right here in our community, as well as millions of alums around the globe, Girl Scouts lead the way as they discover who they are and how they can make the future a brighter place.

Girls participate in five flexible Girl Scout pathways so that each girl can design her own unique leadership experience. Through activities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), financial literacy, the Girl Scout Cookie Program, career readiness, outdoor education, the arts, Take Action service projects and more, girls learn skills in teamwork, goal-setting and leadership to become successful leaders in our community.
