For Her

For Her is a community of women and allies who lead transformational change through sharing knowledge and resources. 

Women in San Antonio experience disproportionately high rates of violence, wider earning gaps, and lower educational attainment compared to women in other major Texas cities. These inequities contribute to poverty, isolation, and mental health challenges, perpetuating cycles of generational trauma.

Recognizing these systemic barriers, For Her provides trauma-informed support through community education, peer connection, economic empowerment, and mental health services. Our current programs and services include:

• Empowerment Workshops: Offered twice a month, these workshops cover topics such as career development, mental and physical wellness, and healthy relationships. 
• Support Groups: Led by licensed professional therapists and trained volunteers, our support groups provide survivors with a safe space to process trauma, reduce isolation, and foster emotional resilience.
• Individual Advocacy: Our one-on-one advocacy helps women navigate barriers to education, employment, and stability. Through personalized support, clients set and achieve goals such as enrolling in school or securing jobs.
• Counseling Services: Women disproportionately experience stress, violence, and economic hardship, contributing to high rates of anxiety and depression. For Her provides no-cost mental health services, including individual counseling, group therapy, telehealth, and yoga therapy. Each woman can receive 12+ therapy sessions per year with a licensed professional therapist. 
• For Her Community Center: Our community center provides a safe, welcoming space for all services as well as drop-in clients. To ensure accessibility, we offer onsite childcare for all groups, with a certified, background-checked provider trained in CPR, first aid, and Montessori methods. Additionally, we provide warm meals during workshops and offer free Wi-Fi and laptops for community use.
