Comal County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. This growth puts extreme strain on the natural systems that sustain our communities, fuel our local economy, and shape the Hill Country character we all love.

The Comal Land Conservation Fund (CLCF)

Seven years ago, Comal Conservation launched the Comal Land Conservation Fund to help in the creation of local conservation easements by assisting with the cost of legal fees, surveys, and appraisals.

Conservation Easements

A conservation easement is a land transaction between a land trust and a landowner that creates a binding agreement protecting the land in perpetuity. This agreement keeps the land open and natural, gives the landowner access to equity held up in their property, it can lower the landowner's tax burden, and provides continued access for working lands. This WIN WIN solution protects the working lands that sustain our county's natural systems and provides our community’s landowners with the support they need.

Our Impact So Far

$110,000 awarded through the Comal Land Conservation Fund

Working to protect 1710 acres of land in Comal County

Permanent protection of aquifer recharge zones, riparian woodlands, and community heritage sites.
