Big Brothers Big Sisters was founded over a hundred years ago to help our community's most vulnerable youth. The National Scientific Council on the Developing Child identified that the single most critical factor in where or not a child grows up successfully is whether or not they have a strong, positive, consistent, caring adult role model in their lives. Mentoring is proven to provide youth with "protective factors" that mitigate trauma and build resiliency among children facing adversity. Our organization matches youth referred to the program with volunteer mentors who step up to help them.

When you give to Big Brothers Big Sisters, you give to the hundreds of youth on our waiting list who do not yet have a mentor. Your gift provides them with a caring adult role model who introduces them to variety of people and experiences, allowing them to become active in their community, learn healthy habits, and commit to learning. This helps develop their character, cultural competency, self-esteem, personal power, sense of purpose and positive view of their future.
