Who We Are

Artpace San Antonio is a nonprofit production residency program that supports Texas, national, and international artists in the creation of new art. As a catalyst for artistic expression, we engage local communities with global art practices and experiences.

Artpace was founded in 1995 by artist, collector, and philanthropist Linda Pace (1945-2007). Linda conceived of Artpace as a laboratory of dreams, providing artists from all over the world with an environment that encourages experimentation and growth.

For 31 years, Artpace has achieved Linda's vision by becoming an institution recognized around the world for advancing contemporary art through unparalleled support of artists and groundbreaking exhibitions right here in San Antonio.

Since its inception, we have welcomed over 400 Texas, national, and international artists and curators to our world-renowned International Artist-in-Residence program. Through year-round free exhibitions and public and educational programming for all ages, Artpace annually engages more than 10,000 people with global art practices and experiences - seven days a week, free of charge, with free downtown parking.
