From One Abandoned Pup to 7,000 Lives Saved: Help Us Open the Doors to a Brighter Future 🐾

In 2007, Pat Godkin was at the lowest point in her life. On a dark, rainy night, she spotted a soaking wet, abandoned puppy shivering in the middle of the road. Exhausted and overwhelmed, the last thing Pat wanted was the responsibility of a puppy. She called rescue after rescue, but every single shelter was completely full. With nowhere else to turn, Pat brought him home. She named him Pablo—and that little Boxer puppy completely changed her world, bringing light back into her life when she needed it most.

Pablo didn’t just save Pat; he became the inspiration that would save thousands more. 

A Legacy of Lifesaving Impact

What started with one unwanted puppy became A Doggie 4 You. Since that rainy night, we have rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed over 7,000 dogs, pulling them off euthanasia lists and out of unsafe conditions.

When crisis strikes, our community knows they can count on us. We don't just shelter dogs; we heal hearts:

• Disaster Relief: We opened our doors to displaced pets during Hurricanes Harvey and Michael, and actively assisted search and rescue groups during the devastating 2025 Texas Hill Country floods for almost 3 months. In the 2026 flood, we were once again offering transportation to work and search crews with American Regulators. 
• Community Healing: We brought therapy dogs to Uvalde to offer comfort and love after the heartbreaking 2022 school shooting.
• Saving Heroes: We vet and place special dogs into the Warriors Heart service dog training program, pairing them with veterans and first responders battling PTSD.

 The Next Chapter: Opening the Doors in Late 2026

Adoption fees only cover a fraction of what it takes to save a life. Daily donations pay for critical surgeries, lifesaving medicines, nourishing food, and a safe, loving place for these dogs to stay while they wait for their "fur-ever" homes.

But we want to do more than just rescue—we want to prevent the crisis where it starts. In late 2026, A Doggie 4 You is officially opening a LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC at our rescue.
