The Vasquez Sarcoma Foundation

Our Story: Born Out of the Fight

The Vasquez Sarcoma Foundation was founded by sarcoma survivors Eryka Vasquez (Ewing Sarcoma survivor) and Alejandro Lopez (two-time Osteosarcoma survivor). Having walked the grueling path of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery themselves, they know firsthand the physical, emotional, and financial toll this disease takes on a family. Sarcoma is often referred to as the "forgotten cancer" because it is rare and aggressive, but to the families affected right here in our community, it is an everyday reality.

Both Eryka and Alejandro received their life-saving treatment right here in San Antonio. Experiencing that care locally inspired a deep mission to give back to their community and support fellow sarcoma fighters.

"One of the first things our doctor told us was: the second you are diagnosed, you become a survivor."

Driven by this philosophy, they founded this organization to ensure that no patient in San Antonio or South Texas has to navigate the complex world of sarcoma alone.

Our Mission

The Vasquez Sarcoma Foundation is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to sarcoma survivors, and their families.
