TARS STARS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families affected by TAR Syndrome and other rare genetic limb differences through awareness, education, accessibility, support, and opportunity. Our mission is to help people navigate challenges, discover resources, build connections, and pursue their goals with confidence, independence, and dignity.
Living with a rare condition or limb difference often means facing barriers that extend beyond medical care. Families frequently struggle to find reliable information, adaptive solutions, financial resources, community connections, and opportunities for meaningful participation. TARS STARS exists to bridge those gaps by providing a centralized platform for guidance, support, and empowerment.
Our programs focus on helping individuals and families find practical pathways forward. We connect people with educational resources, research information, funding opportunities, support networks, adaptive technology, recreational programs, and personalized guidance tailored to their unique goals and circumstances. Rather than simply providing lists of resources, we help people identify what they want to achieve and connect them with the tools, opportunities, and support needed to get there.
A growing area of our work is promoting accessibility, adaptive living, and inclusive recreation. Through initiatives such as accessible gaming, adaptive recreation programs, community events, and technology demonstrations, we help individuals explore new ways to participate in activities they love while building confidence and community connections. We believe accessibility is not just about overcoming barriers—it is about creating opportunities for people to fully engage in life, pursue their interests, and showcase their abilities.
One example is our Tools 4 STARS program, which helps individuals and families access tools, devices, and technology that improve daily life. The program is built on the belief that adaptive tools are not a sign of weakness but a pathway to greater independence, confidence, and quality of life. Through demonstrations, evaluations, equipment loans, and future assistance programs, we work to connect people with practical solutions that help them thrive.
Community is at the heart of everything we do. We create opportunities for individuals and families to connect, share experiences, celebrate achievements, and support one another. By reducing isolation and increasing access to resources, opportunities, and inclusive experiences, we help people recognize that they are not alone and that their goals are achievable.
At TARS STARS, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to participate, contribute, and succeed. Through education, accessibility, advocacy, adaptive technology, community engagement, and personalized support, we are building a future where people with TAR Syndrome and other rare limb differences can pursue their aspirations without limits.
