Too many aspiring musicians, young students, and adult learners alike never get the chance to experience the magic of making music together. School programs are limited, and private lessons, while valuable, focus only on individual skills. SOLI addresses this gap through six engaging educational initiatives that spark creativity, build confidence, and ignite a lifelong love of music.

SOLI Saturdays

Pre-college piano students explore their solo pieces alongside SOLI musicians, discovering how other instruments deepen listening, enhance interpretation, and inspire expressive growth.

SOLI Monday Salon

Adult pianists of all levels join SOLI musicians in a relaxed home setting to enhance solo pieces, develop ensemble skills, and enjoy musical collaboration—each session ends with light refreshments and engaging conversation.

SOLI/ACMP Play In

In collaboration with the Associated Chamber Music Players (ACMP), Adult amateur and professional musicians join us for three evenings of chamber music reading, focusing on play, connection, and enjoyment! Pizza, drinks, and a welcoming community are provided.

I Solo'd with SOLI

In collaboration with CASA (Composers Alliance of San Antonio), young piano students transform their solo pieces into chamber music experiences with members of SOLI. Workshops focus on developing ensemble skills. The activities culminate in a competition and a tour of performances throughout San Antonio.

SOLI's Sound Sense

Curious minds 3rd grade and up join SOLI's Education Director Carolyn True for a fun, no-pressure workshop that builds core musical skills through interactive group activities. No instruments or prior experience is needed.

SOLI's Enseña Certification Program

Designed to empower both present and next generation piano educators, the Enseña Certification Program helps teachers adapt the innovative methods explored in SOLI workshops for use in their own studios. Whether you’re a college student preparing to teach or an experienced educator looking to enhance your current curriculum, this year-long hybrid program will expand your toolkit.

SOLI Chamber Ensemble has been presenting 20th- and 21st-century contemporary chamber music since 1994, captivating audiences for three decades with their engaging performances, promoting the future of new music through educational initiatives, and continually renewing their commitment to the music of living composers through performances and commissions. Recipient of a 2024 NEA Challenge America Grant, a 2020 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant, and the 2013 Chamber Music America and ASCAP Adventurous Programming Award, SOLI continues to champion new works, new contexts, and new audiences for the music of our time.

Who We Are

SOLI Chamber Ensemble, winner of the 2013 CMA/ASCAP Adventurous Programming Award, was founded in 1994 with the purpose of giving voice to 20th-and 21st-century contemporary classical music through commissions, performances, and educational and outreach programs. SOLI sustains a passionate commitment to commissioning and premiering new works. In its 24 years, SOLI has commissioned and premiered 60 new works from some of today most exciting composers. SOLI’s cutting-edge performances take audiences beyond traditional chamber music settings to create new musical experiences. SOLI has recorded 5 albums to date and 2 more are on the way. SOLI regularly collaborates with artists and ensembles in other mediums, such as film, graphic design, art, text, and dance, to incorporate elements that further expand the expression of musical works and the audience experience.
