The Mill Street Youth Center

Out of School. In Good Hands.

Our mission is to inspire and uplift the next generation by providing dynamic and inclusive out-of-school time activities and resources for teens. Long identified as a service gap in the New Braunfels community, we seek to connect with teens in a safe, fun, and supportive way. 

Renovations to 430 W Mill Street began in late 2024 with Phase 1 completing in May 2025, just in time for the Johnny and Nathali Weisman Family Gymnasium to open for the summer. Phase 2 of construction is moving along as scheduled to be completed at the end of this year with plans to open doors to teens in the 1st quarter of 2026.  The Mill Street Youth Center will soon bustle with middle and high school students socializing, learning, connecting, and having fun! 

Open to all teens ages 12 - 18, our programs will focus on four pillars: 

(1) Academic Success, (2) Wellness,
(3) Enrichment Experiences, (4) Healthy Lifestyles.

OUTFIT OUR WEIGHT ROOM!

The Mill Street Gym has quickly become a second home for teens in New Braunfels. Since opening, more than 300 students have spent time here — playing ball, hanging out with friends, and finding a safe place after school. 

We created a dedicated weight room, equipped with cardio and pin-loaded machines. But the most important piece is missing: dumbbells. Without them, the room isn’t complete and our students can’t fully learn the foundations of strength training.

How you can help:

During The Big Give 2025, our goal is to raise $5,000 to purchase pairs of dumbbells from 5 to 85 pounds (in 5-pound increments) and the racks to store them. These will transform the room into a well-rounded training space for every student who walks through our doors.

Our teens are already learning how to train safely through our Intro to Strength class, where we teach proper form, age-appropriate movement, and confidence in the gym. Adding dumbbells will let them take those lessons further and build strength in a safe, supervised environment.
