Leadership SAISD (LSAISD) informs, empowers, and inspires San Antonio to advance transformative public education opportunities for all students. Data shows that San Antonio students are far behind their peers in reading and math achievement, have high rates of absenteeism, and only about 50% of San Antonio students are prepared to enroll in a post secondary pathway among other factors; our students face barriers to live a thriving life and contribute to our community - we can change these outcomes when we all have the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to build a brighter future. We envision a cross-sector coalition of well-equipped community leaders, with a shared responsibility, taking action to improve public education across Bexar County. LSAISD is an independent, non partisan, nonprofit and is not governed by San Antonio ISD. 

Our programs deepen the community’s understanding of the local education landscape and equip leaders with the tools and relationships needed to ensure all students receive transformative public education opportunities. Our nine-month Education Leadership Development Program (ELDP) invites a select group of Fellows to explore challenges facing school districts and the broader education sector, develop their leadership skills to create meaningful change, and connect to a strong community and network of resources. Fellows engage in a deep dive into the local education landscape through learning sessions led by experts and practitioners, while reflecting on their individual education leadership purpose, and collaborating for solutions. ELDP Fellows represent a wide range of community members passionate about public education, including residents, district alumni, parents, educators, K–12 and higher education professionals, nonprofit and corporate leaders, veterans and AmeriCorps volunteers, entrepreneurs, and others working across sectors. Fellows learn and work together as part of a growing coalition committed to improving student outcomes. ELDP Graduates are well equipped to effectively advance the discussion around educational equity and take action for all students in San Antonio through their elected, appointed, and volunteer leadership. ELDP Alumni serve as school and district leaders, non profit and corporate leaders, on district/city/county/state committees, and as elected officials, as well as in other community based leadership roles. 

Our EdChats, conversations to inspire change, are hosted throughout the year and the broader community is invited to resource fairs, panels, and interactive discussions on specific topics affecting the local education landscape. EdChats foster critical conversations, share resources, and strengthen our coalition. We have hosted more than 30 EdChats and ELDP Fellows, Alumni, and partners support the planning of both the ELDP and EdChats. Our coalition impacts children at every level of the public education ecosystem through systems level work and direct services—improving academic opportunities, access to resources, and student social and emotional outcomes.

We strive to host programming at no cost to community members, your support helps us engage more San Antonians every year for our Education Leadership cohort, EdChats, and support our ELDP Alumni in their leadership journeys to advance transformative public education opportunities for all students.
