The money received from sale of commodities does not fully cover the operational needs of the Recycling Center. We rely on generous donations from the community to keep the Center operating. Needs include funds to pay for the water used on the landscaping sites, the salary for our Site Manager, maintenance of the Recycling Center’s equipment, insurance, etc. Therefore, this year we are humbly asking for donations to help us cover operating expenses, so that we can remain financially viable.   

As a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, donations are tax deductible and very welcome!

Keep Utopia Beautiful’s mission is to inspire and assist in the preservation of our community's native environment and facilitate in the reduction of pollutants from human endeavors.

In 2025 Utopia Recycles shipped 70.94 tons of recyclable commodities from Utopia Recycling Center, resulting in these environmental savings for 2025:

• 1052 trees
• 157,386  KWHrs. of electricity
• 489,080 gallons of water
• 393 barrels of oil
• 427,611 lbs of air pollution
• $2,979.48 estimated landfill fees

Who We Are

In our tiny community of Utopia (300 souls) we have around 80 volunteers who are dedicated to being good stewards of our canyon lands. They pick up trash on the highway, plant and maintain gardens all over town, and operate a large (for our community) recycling center.
