Animal Rescue Connections

Just a few years ago, a diagnosis of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) was one of the most heartbreaking words a cat lover could hear. For decades, FIP was considered almost universally fatal, leaving families and rescue organizations with little hope beyond keeping a beloved cat comfortable for whatever time remained.

Today, that story has changed.

Thanks to remarkable advances in veterinary medicine, many cats diagnosed with FIP now have a real chance at survival through a daily treatment protocol lasting approximately 12 weeks. Cats who once had no future are now returning to their playful, affectionate selves, chasing toys, curling up with their families, and living the long, happy lives they were always meant to have.

But hope comes with a cost.

Each year, about a dozen Animal Rescue Connections rescue cats develop FIP. Unfortunately, these lifesaving medications, diagnostic tests, veterinary visits, and supportive care cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, far beyond what most rescues budget for emergency care.

Every donation this Big Give allows us to say "YES, we can help!" when a young cat's belly fills with fluid from wet FIP, or when an unexpected medical crisis threatens an otherwise healthy life.
