Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Brighton Center is San Antonio's largest nonprofit supporting nearly 5,000 children with disabilities and developmental delays in our community through pediatric therapy, early childhood education, and special education support services.
Why I'm Supporting Brighton Center for Big Give
Brighton Center's mission matters to me because I am a parent first, an SLP second. As a parent of a child who has benefited from Brighton's services, I can tell you firsthand the mark it has left on our lives.
There I was, in the middle of my post partum depression, knowing my baby boy needed support, all thanks to my SLP-senses. But I couldn't be my son's therapist. I was using everything I had in me to simply be his mom and meet his needs.
His pediatrician agreed he could benefit and helped us get connected. Through the work of some stand-up therapists, (and staff, it takes a village!) my concerns were heard and my son got the support he needed.
I cannot explain the relief that came from knowing that so many more people had their eyes on my son, and I didn't have to do it alone. I share this story because I know that there are so many parents and caregivers who find themselves where I once was. Just know that you don't have to do it alone.
