I started at Connections as an intern in the middle of COVID as the world was navigating so many unknowns. During this time, I was also navigating my own personal challenges and hardships. Who knew that as a graduate student pursuing the field of mental health that Connections would be the safe space for me to land both personally and professionally. I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing people I have met along the way - the coworkers, friends, and community relationships that have shaped me professionally and poured into me personally.
Over the last several years, I have worked with numerous students and their families looking for their own safe space to land, to unravel life experiences, to sit through and understand grief and loss, and to celebrate the victories big and small. I utilize a creative approach and invite clients and their families to explore mental health themes using play, art, movement, and nature. Therapy isn't a one size fits all, and when we service various communities with families from all walks of life, it is welcoming and less intimidating when there are several ways to make the process feel less clinical.
