I believe in the work happening at Haven for Hope. 

More importantly, I believe in the results.

I have the opportunity to work behind the scenes to help make sure Haven has the resources to serve the people who come through our doors. In that role, I get to see both the numbers and the stories behind them.

Every day, more than 1,400 people call Haven for Hope home. That represents about 60% of San Antonio’s homeless population. More than 250 of those individuals are children living in family units experiencing homelessness.

Those numbers are hard to ignore. But what keeps me invested in this work is what happens beyond the numbers.

People come to Haven for many different reasons and with very different needs. For some, it may be the first safe place they have had in a long time. From there, they can begin accessing healthcare, employment services, education, and the support they need to work toward something more stable.

I’ve seen enough of this work to know that it isn’t as simple as giving someone a place to stay and expecting everything to change overnight. But I’ve also seen what can happen when people have a safe place to start, the right resources around them, and the opportunity to keep moving forward.

That’s why I’m participating in Big Give this year with a personal goal of raising $3,000 for Haven for Hope. 

I’m not asking you to give because I think every problem can be solved with one donation. I’m asking because I believe in what Haven is doing and I believe our community is better when people have a place to turn when they need it most.
