Kairos Inside Coleman Unit

                                                   CHANGING HEARTS...TRANSFORMING LIVES...IMPACTING THE WORLD!

Kairos Prison Ministry shares the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ with incarcerated men, women, youth and their families. Kairos is a Greek word meaning "God's Special Time" or "in the fullness of time," which means our Participants have an opportunity to reconsider their life choices. As hearts are changed and inmates begin to take responsibility for their actions, there is an opportunity to have a front-row seat to one miracle after another. God transforms lives and the world is impacted.

Kairos Coleman volunteers are a diverse group of women and men serving together on both the Inside and Support Teams to fulfill Christ's call in Matthew 25:36, "I was in prison and you visited me." They are called into community and sent forth into the environment of the Coleman Unit, a women's prison in Lockhart, TX  to "Listen, Listen, Love, Love."

The program incorporates curriculum to build and encourage pro-social character and behavior. During a 3 1/2 day Weekend program of talks, meditations, music, listening, loving, and delicious homemade food, a Christian community will start to form. After the Weekend, volunteers return to the prison every week for small groups called Prayer and Share and for special gatherings throughout the year. 

Society spends $60 billion a year to keep 2.3 million inmates incarcerated, while the Kairos program is offered at no cost to the State and Federal Institutions. Kairos Prison Ministry is only possible because of donations from generous people. The following is a quote from an incarcerated Kairos graduate, "It's been said that it costs the government $1 million to keep me locked up, and a $250 program from Kairos set me free."
