Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area

This year, during the Big Give of San Antonio, the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area is raising funds for something special and much needed: a new transport and event van! This new ride will help us get pets to veterinary visits and surgery, bring adoptable animals to community events, and connect more pets with the people who can change their lives.

For a shelter pet, a ride can be the start of something life changing.

When a pet loads up and heads out of the shelter, there’s often an opportunity waiting at the other end. An adoption event could introduce them to their new family. A veterinary visit could get them the care they need. A trip to a rescue partner could open the door to their next chapter.

Each of these opportunities starts with something simple: a dependable way to get there.

At the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, our work reaches far beyond the shelter doors. This Big Give, we’re asking our community to help us purchase a new van so we can keep showing up for the pets and people who count on us.

Our Current Ride

A few years ago, a generous donor gave HSNBA a 2004 Dodge Durango that now has over 200,000 miles and a lot of heart. Since then, we’ve taken it just about everywhere! It has carried dogs, cats, crates, and event supplies across our community and made longer trips to connect pets with transport partners.

It has served us well, but the miles and wear are catching up. Space is limited inside, and fitting pets, their crates, and the supplies needed for an event is a challenge. As our community grows and more pets need our help, we need a vehicle with the room and reliability to keep up.

Our Durango has helped so many pets along their journey, but it’s nearing the end of its time on the road. Now is the time to prepare for what comes next so we can keep driving pets toward a Second Chance at a First Class Life!

A New Van Means More Opportunities for Pets to Meet Their Match

Sometimes, the person who will fall in love with a shelter pet hasn’t walked through our doors yet. Adoption events give us a chance to bring pets to them!

Getting out into the community also gives pets a break from the shelter and a chance to show a different side of themselves. A dog who gets overlooked in a kennel might catch someone’s attention while greeting visitors or relaxing beside a volunteer.

A larger van will give us more room for adoptable pets, secure travel crates, and the supplies that make these outings possible. That means more opportunities to make connections, introduce people to our work, and help pets meet their match.

A Ride to the Care They Need

Transportation is also an essential part of caring for the animals who come through our doors. Veterinary appointments, spay and neuter surgeries, and trips to partner organizations all depend on our ability to get pets where they need to go.

A new van will help us plan for those needs with confidence and provide dependable transportation for the everyday trips that make lifesaving possible.
