Friends of the Bulverde Area Rural Library District

The Bulverde Area Rural Library District (BARLD) includes 200 square miles in the western portion of Comal County, Texas.  The Mammen Family Public Library is the only library serving this rapidly growing area. Your donation will help the Mammen Family Public Library by raising funds to support the Hill Country Literary Festival organized by the Library. 

The annual Hill Country Literary Festival brings over 20 authors and literary professionals to the Mammen Family Public Library for a full day of author talks, panels, workshops, book signings, local author meet and greets, and so much more! In 2026 over 500 individuals attended the festival.  In conjunction with this full day event, the Library partners with local schools to host a field trip for elementary school students to hear from one of the children's authors participating in the festival. 

Your support of this event will allow the Library to bring in Keynote Speakers for Adults and Children.  

Who We Are

The Friends of the Bulverde Area Rural Library District (BARLD) promote public use of the Bulverde Area Rural Library District (BARLD)’s Mammen Family Public Library (MFPL) by supplementing library funding, services, programs and activities. Our key initiatives include fundraising, volunteerism, outreach to enhance library programs, expansion resources in support of the Strategic Plan developed for the Bulverde Area Rural Library District.
