Celebrate Dyslexia

A nonprofit organization

Celebrate Dyslexia was founded in 2019 to shift the way our community understands, supports, and empowers individuals with dyslexia. Since its inception, the organization has reached over 100,000 individuals through educator and stakeholder training, strength-based public awareness events, and advocacy efforts focused on systemic change. Our mission is rooted in ensuring early identification, evidence-based intervention, and equity for the one in five individuals with dyslexia.

Celebrate Dyslexia leads initiatives across six core areas:

  1. Education Access – Through our Learning Center, we eliminate barriers to Structured Literacy by training educators in Academic Language Therapy, developing an open-access dyslexia curriculum, and improving teacher confidence and student outcomes. Our multi-year goal is to train 100 educators by 2027 in academic language therapy, creating a sustainable pipeline of local experts serving diverse communities.

  2. Healthcare Integration – We work with pediatricians, mental health providers, and health systems to transform dyslexia from an overlooked condition to one recognized through diagnostic coding and medical training. Our efforts have led to increased awareness among physicians and advocacy for establishing a definitive diagnostic code to support insurance and service access.

  3. Advocacy – We serve as the voice for individuals with dyslexia and families in every policy conversation. From school boards to state legislators, we advance informed decisions grounded in evidence-based practices. Our advocacy has led to new partnerships, legislative engagement, and increased visibility for underserved populations.

  4. Family Empowerment – We aim to replace parental anguish with empowerment. Through screening support, family education, and accessible resources, we help families navigate services and celebrate the strengths of their children. Parent academies and community engagement events provide clear, actionable guidance.

  5. Justice System Reform – We are disrupting the dyslexia-to-incarceration pipeline through training, collaboration with Bexar County Juvenile Probation, and systems advocacy. By changing intake processes and ensuring access to support for justice-involved youth, we help unlock academic potential and reduce recidivism.

  6. WorkforceWe provide tools for upward economic mobility, including HR training on dyslexia inclusion and accommodations.

Over the next 3–5 years, Celebrate Dyslexia envisions a world where every individual with dyslexia is equitably prepared to live, learn, and thrive. Our vision will be achieved through systemic change, cross-sector partnerships, and open access to tools that promote lifelong opportunity.
